Most of my close friends know that I teach photography and year book at a middle school during the week. Most of my friends (I hope ) also know that my birthday is on April 1st which just passed  a couple of weeks ago.  They made me a birthday card that I am very proud to show off.  This card reminds me of when birthdays were truly fun (and alcohol-free) and I feel very blessed to have received not just one, but two hand made birthday cards!  I know student’s do not make birthday cards to teachers that they don’t like, so receiving one  makes me very very happy. icon smile My belated birthday card

Many of my students are very talented in photography and yearbook layout design.  So good in fact that I am oftentimes amazed  with what they come up with, and (Shhh don’t tell anyone) I actually think they’re work is better than mine (sometimes)!  When I look at their photographs I think they are amazing because kids at their age see the world so much more differently than say someone my age or older.  And that’s why I think it’s so amazing, in many ways they inspire me.

April 14, 2009 Triathlon Training

Today officially marks the fourth day of my triathlon training.  It’s official because I started swim training last Friday and that’s the one part that I so dearly dread.  I suppose that it’s a good thing swimming is the first leg in a triathlon, I don’t think it would be a good idea for a bad swimmer such as myself to have to swim after a bike race and a run.  That’s the thing about a triathlon, I can slow down or stop while biking or running, but if I stop while swimming I will die.  Too bad there are not any lane lines or walls for me to hang on to in the ocean.

My triathlon is in June so I think I should be okay if I keep up with my swimming, since I’ve been keeping up with my running and biking.  I am very excited!

Thanks to my wonderful friend Michelle Ngo I had the wonderful opportunity to shoot for Skinnie Magazine ( .  So in this current Issue I have a couple of photos in a couple of pages.   I am very grateful for this opportunity because to show work in a magazine is so much cooler than photos on a website or something of the like.  And you might notice that two of the people of the photos are none other than Jeremy and Jeramee, the dynamic duo (found in the post before this.)

I’m literally trying to slow my blogging pace down to a normal, un-overwhelming, pace so that people won’t think I am self-indulging and narcissistic guy.  Because I’m not, right? Anyway, I shot an engagement this weekend with Jeremy and Jeramee, they’re names are spelled differently but pronounced the same.  Imagine trying how difficult it was for me to direct them: “Jeremy(mee) can you look at me? No, not you the other one.” Yeah it was pretty tough.  So I asked them how am I supposed to differentiate them with names, they told me to use “Jera-he and Jera-she” which I thought was pretty clever, but that just sounded weird to me and struggled with that many, many times.  In retrospect I probably should have used last names.

Anyhoo, they are two wonderfully beautiful people who were great people to work with.   They made my job real easy icon smile Jeremy and Jeramee Engagement

So here are a few photos that I liked. They are all black and white because they wanted a timeless classic look from the 50′s and 60′s
