July 18, 2012 Lighting+Direction Workshop Recap
September 22, 2010 OMG I’m published in Popular Photography Magazine!
I’m extremely ecctatic to present this post to you: it is my honor and privilege to be published in Popular Photography magazine!!! This is the latest (October) issue of Popular Photography magazine!
I got second place in this current issue’s “Your Best Shot” Contest. Here’s some food for thought: studies have shown that third place winners are actually happier than second place winners. Why? Third place winners are happy just because they just made into top three, second place winners are disappointed because they were so close to getting first. Interesting thought right? Of course I’m still very happy to get second place and published. It’s most photographers dreams to be published in magazines, and I’ve been lucky enough to be published a few times.
Popular Photography Magazine is actually the first photography magazine that I’ve ever picked up, so it kinda has a soft spot in me. I’d also like to thank Stephanie Li (one of my awesome bride-to-be’s) for giving me this subscription as a gift!
This portrait session dates back earlier this year and the two cute little ones shown below are Gabriel and Nadia And it is also an honor and a privilege to be able to see them grow up and photograph them every single year. I’ll say, it’s quite precious.

August 3, 2010 Mylinh and Alfred Married in Hawaii! Part I
I gotta tell ya, I absolutely love my job. For this wedding I was on the beautiful island of Hawaii! Wait, it gets better. A lot better. During the reception they had a prime rib and crab leg buffet. Ohhhh yeahhh. I think that’s what heaven is like, prime rib and crab leg in Hawaii.
If any one is familiar with Honolulu, you might’ve heard of the Hale Koa hotel which sits right on the beach west of Waikiki beach. It’s reserved for only people in the military or their kin. I’m not sure where Mylinh and Alfred are connected exactly, but it matters not to me. This hotel was exotic, beautiful, and needless to say Erich-approved. The wedding itself was casual, intimate, and also Erich-approved.
In the photos below I started it off with Alfred getting ready, and you’ll see that he got a nifty gift from Mylinh: a Canon SD 1400 IS ! It’s the same camera that I have now and am in love with. Alfred didn’t look too excited at first with it. When I asked him why he wasn’t excited, he said he said he doesn’t take photos much. Then he followed up with a question asking if the camera could take adequate photos of documents XP . Oh gosh. Alfred does a lot of work in the world of academia which requires document scanning so thats why he would ask that question.
Moving on to Mylinh’s getting ready photos, I’m pretty excited about my detail photos. There’s another one that I’m pretty proud of but I didn’t put in because it’s a little bit more risque. And check out some of the candid ones I got of Mylinh having her deoderant applied by her maid of honor Rhonda!

July 24, 2010 First HD Video + Interview!
I am oogling with EXCITEMENT!
Big shoutout to Mark, Serena, Rosalva, Jade, Ian, and Bimbo (she’s a dog) for helping me out in this super awesome/amazing/spectacular (I ran out of adjectives) video!
So this awesome/amazing/spectacular video is of a Trash the Dress Video of Nicole and Daniel, AND they talk about me. I wasn’t there when they were interviewed so it’s kind of cool to hear what they had to say. I plan to use this a lot to show potential clients and pretty much everyone. I am excited! I am excited! I’m still oogling.
On a sidenote, tomorrow morning I photograph Alli and Alex’s wedding and it’s going to be a fun one. Check out alliandalex.com . There engagement video will make you go “awwww.”
