This is my first time photographing a couple at Santa Monica Pier, but definitely not the first time I’ve hung out with this fun and loving couple. Michelle, Brian, and I go wayyy back.  This is one of my favorite engagement sessions up to date!

I really love this couple because at the church that I used to go to they were one of the very few other Asian-Hispanic couples. Chinese and Mexican to be exact, and I love making up words, so I’m gonna call it Mexicanese or Chinican, take your pick. The other Mexicanese couple at our church that I so dearly love is Bryan and Stacy.

I used to play basketball with Brian, and now I currently rock climb with Michelle. They’re both better than me at those sports, but it’s all good because it’s a lot of fun, and I secretly learn from them.

I’d describe Brian as a sleeping giant when he plays basketball because normally he doesn’t look he could move very fast, but when he needs to hustle, he’s super quick. It’s amazing to see because he never has any facial expression when he plays. It’s probably because it’s rather easy for him. He’s just a blank slate. Whereas when I play, my eyes and mouth are wide open most of the time, because frankly.. I’m out of breath a lot. When Michelle rock climbs I’d describe her as this “poetic ninja.” Yeah I know that makes no sense, but like I said, I love to make up words. She’ll gracefully scale a rock wall with much finesse and ease, and although I can’t see she probably climbs with a smile on her face. Whereas when I climb I sweat and tremble uncontrollably. I probably look like a scared chicken holding on for dear life.
