Out in the middle of the desert (Yucaipa area), there’s this nice little oasis called Serendipity. It’s one of those places that my GPS doesn’t register and has no major roads leading to it. But just like any other oasis, it was a very beautiful place.

While we’re on the subject of beautiful, I present to you an amazing couple and their wedding: Judy and Chris. Chris cried several times during his vows, which is one of my favorite parts of a wedding (the other being toasts.) Because he cried, my eyes got a little bit sweaty.

Judy is like whoa. Incredibly pretty and beautiful. Fun-loving and awesome. She was the first bride that I asked to do some bed jumping shots, and she did it really well and looked good at the same time. Only a few can do that. I also had her to do a few poses that also pulled off quite well. Some of her bridesmaids should work at the laugh factory, because they’re non-stop comedy.

Together, they make a great couple. Their first look was a joy to watch and photograph as Chris was smiley and antsy the entire time.

I also got to work with my wonderful friend Jessica Limantaro who was the amazing wedding coordinator and my friend Daniel Chin as my second photographer.

I’ve had my really silly couples (Kwong and Polly), really funny couples (Matt and Britt), and now I present to you my most quirkiest couple Kim and Newton. Being quirky’s not a bad thing, mind you, I’m very quirky icon smile Meet Kim and Newton (Wedding)

The day started off with me heading to Kim’s place. Now, usually I start off with a lot of the detailed shots and getting ready shots, but Kim was already all made up with her dress on and ready for photos… by herself. No flowers, no bridesmaids, just Kim with a big smile on her face and antsy feet. I’ve never had such an eager bride wanting to take photos. I thought that was both interestingly funny and flattering. At that point, I knew it was going to be a good day. Our first destination the Disney Concert Hall.

Here are my thoughts about the Disney Concert Hall: it is one of the coolest examples of modern architecture in Los Angeles. It’s also one of the most-used spots for wedding/engagement photographers, which is why I’ve been trying to avoid it for the longest time. But this day, I confronted it. And you know what, I actually really liked the way my shots turned out. The bluish tones from the curved metallic walls were a nice contrast to Newton’s striking pink tie/vest. Now that I’ve gotten some really cool Disney Concert Hall photos, I think I’m going to try and avoid this place even more icon smile Meet Kim and Newton (Wedding)

There’s only a few men in the world that can pull off pink. I know I can’t, but Newton certainly can, and he sports it well! Newton was flashing a nice pink tie and vest as well as a pinkish purplish framed glasses on his wedding day. This guy’s got style and a huge dose of quirkiness. I’ll admit that I didn’t realize how quirky he was until I photographed his wedding. Now if weddings were an accurate reflection of the couple, I definitely say that it holds true for Kim and Newton. Let me explain. Their reception was held in a basketball gym, and they had the chicken dance, lion dancing (Newton being one of the performers), an African drummer dressed in traditional garbs playing a djembe, and an accordion player. Talk about eclectic, random, and quirky right? In any case, they’re a seriously cool couple. They bike. I bike. I like.

September 26, 2010 Quest Crew Shoot!

This is a shoot I did a couple of months ago, and I’ve only been able to blog about it now because I finally found some time and also I had to wait to see which ones they wanted. But anyway, for this shoot I purchased 10 purple toothbrushes so I could create some unique and interesting photos like the ones below.

This is a small part of the two-day shoot I did with Quest Crew. there’s actually some really cool images that I’ll put up in the future.

I really want to thank Andi, Lyndzi, Eve, Joanna, and Randy for helping me out on this shoot. It’s always good working with Ryanimay Conferido, Hokuto Konishi, Lydia Paek, Brian Hirano, Aris Paracuelles, Ryan Feng, Steve Terada, and Victor Kim.

Also, as a sidenote, I’ve been lucky enough to be able to go with Quest Crew to this season’s So You Think You Can Dance Season Finale backstage. I admit I haven’t seen the show, but I did go check it out to see what it was all about, and it’s pretty awesome icon smile Quest Crew Shoot!

I’m extremely ecctatic to present this post to you: it is my honor and privilege to be published in Popular Photography magazine!!! This is the latest (October) issue of Popular Photography magazine!

I got second place in this current issue’s “Your Best Shot” Contest. Here’s some food for thought: studies have shown that third place winners are actually happier than second place winners. Why? Third place winners are happy just because they just made into top three, second place winners are disappointed because they were so close to getting first. Interesting thought right? Of course I’m still very happy to get second place and published. It’s most photographers dreams to be published in magazines, and I’ve been lucky enough to be published a few times. icon smile OMG Im published in Popular Photography Magazine!

Popular Photography Magazine is actually the first photography magazine that I’ve ever picked up, so it kinda has a soft spot in me. I’d also like to thank Stephanie Li (one of my awesome bride-to-be’s) for giving me this subscription as a gift! icon smile OMG Im published in Popular Photography Magazine!

This portrait session dates back earlier this year and the two cute little ones shown below are Gabriel and Nadia And it is also an honor and a privilege to be able to see them grow up and photograph them every single year. I’ll say, it’s quite precious.
