This is news that I’ve been holding back for a while, because I didn’t want to announce it until it was published. But recently I entered into the Look of Love Photography Contest associated with American Photo Magazine and also Destination Weddings and Honeymoon Magazine. and I won! I won!

I am very esctatic to tell the world that I won for the “Getting Ready” Category and received runner-up for “Couples Portrait” Category. Considering it was my first photography contest that I won, I was very surprised to win. When I got the call one morning I was speechless, it was one of those moments in life where you’re really happy and your brain has so many thoughts going on but nothing comes out of your mouth.

This is the winning photo for “Getting Ready”

I have so much to blog about, and not enough time! But right now I want to focus on a very special person! I am very proud to present my very first intern! This is Emilie!

img 9992 Meet Emilie, shes my new intern!

She’s also my sister! She applied to my internship position that didn’t really exist, and after comparing her with her (nonexistent) competition I had made my choice. After much debate, I have decided that she would make an excellent intern so Emilie is now part of my team. She’ll be helping me out with all sorts of tasks such as blogging, shoots, and editing, etc. etc. Emilie is currently a student at UCI where she is majoring in everything. She’s an owner of a Canon 50d, and she is also an award-winning photographer.

Congratulations to her!

And…congratulations to the Lakers for winning the Championship! I don’t quite understand why Laker fans have to riot and go crazy when we win.

And to sum up my week, I just got back from San Francisco today to meet with an extremely hilarious couple Polly and Kwong photograph an incredibly fun engagement session with Cynthia and Reggie, and photographed a beautiful wedding of Chona and Michael. Tomorrow I head out to San Diego to help out with a wedding for my friend Nathan Nowack to showcase for photosodes!

Meet Chona and Michael.

Let me tell you what I love about this couple. The first time I went to meet them, Chona was playing Farmville, Michael took out his photography equipment, and they both showed me their exotic pet birds. All that in itself was a pretty amazing experience. Although I don’t play Farmville, I am on Facebook a lot, and I love photography and animals. What I love about Chona is her energy. She’s bubbly and likes to laugh a lot. I think there should be more people in the world like that. I love Michael’s passion for photography. His understanding of underwater photography (I’ll admit) goes over my head sometimes because I don’t know the first thing about underwater photography, but Michael’s very very interesting to listen to.

I look forward to photographing their wedding in San Francisco this week! I am mucho excited. Starting Monday to Friday I will be in northen California photographing an engagement session, their wedding, and meeting with another couple. This upcoming weekend I get to photograph another wedding with my good friend Nathan Nowack.

Heres how I see it, there are two types of people in the world: those who like Mexican food and beer, and those who don’t. Erica and Andy are the former, and so am I. I like that. After this shoot we had some good ol’ artery clogging food a.k.a carne asada fries and beer. If you’ve had those two together, then you’ll know exactly how glorious that can be.

I’ve known Erica for a while, we went to college together, and we were also coworkers in Housing. Erica’s known to be loud (in a good way) and very very funny. Then she met her match, both in personality and in funniness. She met Andy… Garcia, oops, I mean Andy Aros, but he kinda looks like Andy Garcia. Right? Andy and I get along well because most of our conversations are about Super Smash Bros (Wii). We had talked about it all day, so finally we played against each other. I won’t tell you who won, but I’ll tell you I was very rusty icon smile Meet Erica and Andy (Engagement)

Our session was shot at the Ponte Winery in Temecula and downtown Riverside.
